Clarks Originals & JaguarShoes

While researching an upcoming art project, we came across this collaboration between Clarks Originals and the JaguarShoes Collective. Although not strictly a story about ‘sneakers’, we’ve featured Clarks before on this blog and we have a feeling we’ll be featuring them again. The brand certainly seems to have an affinity with artists/designers and sneaker wearers alike…
Based in East London, the JaguarShoes Collective is an arts organisation that collaborates with illustrators, designers and brands to create unique products, exhibitions and events. In August of this year they saw the release of their very own Clarks Originals Desert Boot; a collaboration using a ‘modern vintage’ colour pallette which was derived from the original signage that hangs above the doors of DreamBagsJaguarShoes (the collective’s flagship space). The boots feature a slim sole, corduroy suede uppers and a red and cream striped leather lining.
In an artistic twist to the collaboration, JaguarShoes also added some novel British-themed socks into the mix, meaning that each pair of boots comes with a pair of limited edition artist-designed socks. With a nod to mass-market ‘novelty’ socks, Chrissie Abbott has designed a ‘Rain & Shine’ repeat pattern for women, and McBess has created a ‘Plates of Meat’ design for men. The boots also come wrapped in bespoke tissue paper, designed by the respective artists, and all of this is presented in a specially designed Clarks Originals box.
The launch party for the event (a few images of which can also be seen below) was held at the recently refurbished East London JaguarShoes venue, the Old Shoreditch Station.
The Clarks Originals & JaguarShoes Desert Boots are available now from Clarks, the JaguarShoes Collective and select retail stores nationwide. Via Art&Sole
